Heather F. Harper

I am a senior counsel in the firm’s New Ventures group. I represent startups and growth-stage companies in business transactional matters. In addition to serving as senior counsel at Thompson Hine, I am the General Counsel of Simple Mills.

I have deep experience representing startups and growth stage companies, and most recently before joining Thompson Hine launched and managed Harper Legal, a boutique law firm representing emerging companies.

For nearly 10 years prior to launching Harper Legal, I was a professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law. In this role, I designed, launched and directed the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic in the C-K Law Group, generally referred to as the Startup Legal Shop. I also taught Entrepreneurship Law and Business Entity Formation and was active on the faculty.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my sons, watching comedy and magic shows, and playing with our dog Lulu.
